Is it acceptable to use sick days for a 'mental health' day?

YES.

Most definitely. Luckily, all my days off are grouped together.

definitely. mental health is just as important as physical health. i'm a big proponent of people keeping their personal reasons for taking a sick day to themselves. You never know what's going on in someone's personal life.

Absolutely YES. I do that quite frequently (or as frequently as one can with only 7 personal days).

i'm allowed only 2 personal and says, but i have 14 sick days... so it goes without saying how i feel.

Wow Sara, you have it lucky. I only get 1 personal and 5 sick days. So, yes, I do think they should be used for mental health.

Yup. I do think you should lay low though. If you're taking a sick day, its unseemly to be running around town.

Agree with Cate.

I use sick days for just about everything. Being sick, mental health day, running daytime-only errands... F-it, it's my earned time!

as someone who has never had sick days, if i had them, i would use the shit out of them

Ab-so-fucking-lutely. If you want me to do my job, I'm going to bang in sick for the hell of it every once in a while.

Sometimes, you need so you don't go postal at work.

Yes. Mental health is health!

But, like someone else said, don't go gallivanting about town. Stay home, bake & watch movies. Duh.
