I heard a story about this on NPR and I was fascinated by the concept. A casino out in CA was saying that they would pay all expenses for their employees to get major surgeries in Costa Rica plus they would give them a stipend. So, in the example mentioned on the air, if a person needed open heart surgery and the company saved $50k, the patient/employee would have the procedure in Costa Rica and make $5k.
I thought about having lasik in Canada so I guess I am open to the idea. But I don't know.
I think I would be more open to it if the company also threw in a companion pass so my mom could come with me and take care of me. Is it weird that I am 31 years old and still would choose my mom to take care of me?
no, that sounds super sketchy to me. however, i would fake the need for a major procedure and take an all expenses paid vacation on the company's dime. that seems like the better way to go.

totally depends how much I'll be able to checkout the country/doctor first.

As long as i spoke the language and it wasnt in mexico. i know what goes on down there...
i have great insurance, so i can't imagine needing to do this. i mean, i guess it would be nice to get the stipend.
I suppose I'd read a brochure on it if they handed it to me, but highly unlikely I'd go through with it.
