What is your opinion of the vuvuzela, the stadium horn commonly blown by fans at the World Cup matches in South Africa?

I think it sorta sounds like that tense music in Lost.

Oh, and when I heard the french were blaming their poor performance on them, I went from slightly opposed to strongly in favor.

I think it sounds like a giant swarm of massive huge killer bees, like in the movie Honey I Shrunk The Kids. I don't like it but am finding myself quoting my mother more and more saying: "what is that terrible noise?" so therefore I love it. Loud annoying noise, bring it on! I'm young, I'm hip....

Slightly less annoying than the incessant complaining about them.

I think they are annoying, but they are part of South African soccer culture which is the underlying purpose of hosting the World Cup there.

As annoying as they are, I think they should keep them at least in side the stadium, unless it interferes with emergency announcements and the playing of national anthems.

part of the culture - good.

when hung over and watching 7am soccer - very, very bad.

I don't mind it...after a while, you just sort of tune it out. Just wait til the World Cup is in Australia and we have to deal with didgeridoos in the stands. Then we can all complain about that.

honestly didnt even notice them

did you know that Kema from 'the wire' is married to a famous didgeridoo player?

i like the noise. it reminds me of my days on the pequod...and my nemisis whale.

also about whales...did you know that whales sing in the classic ABA blues form? they are smart.

I like them, they add sound flavor. It's part of the soccer culture so i say, keep 'em. But at the stadium, wear ear plugs.
