It used to be Santa Ynez valley, about half an hour east of Santa Barbara. Amazing wine country without the stuffiness of Napa...but now, on the East Coast, I don't really know. I'm open to suggestions.
my mom and aunt are visiting me this weekend, so i guess DC! but if i were travelling, i'd go to roanoke, see family, take a gander at the mountains and i have some right good southern cookin'.
My family beach house on coastal Rhode Island. 200 yds from the ocean, in a town of 1,500 people with no chain-businesses or traffic lights. Oh, it is soooo relaxing. All you can do there is lay out on the beach, read a book, play croquet, go for a bike ride, build a bon fire and, of course, get drunk with family. That's my heaven.
I love a football weekend in State College, PA. The drive is beautiful, the beer is cheap, the people are friendly, and I get to regress to 19 year old behavior without fear of running into my students or their parents.

The beach...when it's cold and empty...like this weekend...I'm out of here as soon as possible...
