I only use it fro dramatic effect... and for those of you that have the work blocked g chat- i have 2 words for you: google plus... they havent figured out how to block that shit yet.
I use the busy status rarely. Usually it involves some combination of deadlines, a million conference calls, being mad about work, and running around like a chicken with my head cut off.
I am not important enough to use the red dot, I work in academia in Northern Idaho, everything is slow and laid back. Us on the other side of the country aren't really ever that busy like you peeps in DC, Ha, this is why I like it here.

I never use red dot. I just sign off. Now work blocks gmail and it makes me sad.
