Controversy in AK vote count. People are misspelling Murkowski on absentee ballots. Do you think absentee ballots with misspellings should be counted?

I think absentee ballots with pictograms should be counted double.

Misspellings should only be counted once.

if the intent to vote is apparent, misspellings should count.

hanging chads, anyone?

Yes because that was the rule before so Joe Miller should have filed his lawsuit before so it would be clear...or he should quit being a little bitch and either win more votes or concede when he loses. I guess he is the real Republican in that race.

As someone with a last name that is difficult to spell myself, i know what Lisa is going through. If it starts with an M and ends with an I with a shit ton of letters in between, they were trying to vote for Murkowski. Deal with it.

What Hailey said.

Absolutely not, if you don't know enough about your candidate of choice to spell their name correctly your vote should not be counted.

The pragmatic in me says that the Alaska Supreme Court ruling was that people could request a list of write-in canidates so really, if they misspelled her last name, it's their fault.

But, she has (supposedly) 23,000 more votes than him. So the Democrat in me sides with Hailey on this one. Damn the crazy that you know over the crazy that you don't (want).

I'm with Rob - intent to vote is the important part. Unless you are voting for Lizard People.

I think the mispelled write in vote should be counted. There could be a limit on the number of spelling errors but a person who may not have the best writing or literacy skills should not be punished for missing a letter or two. The vote should still count!

It's Alaska...the state that elected Sarah Palin governor. In my view, their rights to popular election should have been revoked the second that happened.

In general, I'm with Rob and Cate...intent should be the indicator.

In this specific case, I could not care less...let them elect a poo flinging monkey. Can't be any worse than Ted Stevens (pouring a little out for my main series-of-tubes man).
