Pickles!

I did see on food network this weekend that there is a place in NYC that fries bacon in tempura.

Pickles. I love me some pickles and they are even better all fried up.

I may or may not have tried a fried Mars bar.

At the Texas State Fair, they have fried butter. Shudder.

Pickles and Lemon Slices (I love Cleveland Park) are pretty good...

Sweetbreads are pretty good too...love eating fried glands.

And there is a sushi joint in LA that I've been to a few times that deep fries rolls...not like a shrimp tempura roll where just the shrimp is fried. No, the entire roll is dipped in tempura batter and fried. Best. Meal. Ever.

Fried seaweed! Had this in a Chinese restaurant in London and I've been looking for it on a menu in the States ever since. Crunchy, salty and sweet. Yummy!

Fried pickles and green tomatoes are very conventional in the South, so I can't count those (BTW, Leslie -- do not order FGTs anywhere in DC; I have yet to find them cooked properly. Come to my house in the spring). But I agree with Beth -- definitely would not put alligator in the "best" category.

Apparently missing out on the fried pickles. The only unconventional fried thing I've had is alligator.

At the North Carolina State Fair they have fried oreos, fried twinkees, fried candy bars etc. I did not partake. They also had both the world's largest and the world's smallest horse. I always thought they should breed them together and make the world's most normal sized horse.

Not proud of this, but I ate a fried hamburger once. It was good and so bad.

Had a fried artichoke once, in bloom. With some sort of chipotle dipping sauce. SO GOOD.

And the flash-fried spinach at Ten Penh... melty.

And on a less classy note, fried Twinkies at the Ohio State Fair.

Who can choose between 'em?
