What children's book would you like to see made into a movie (and for a bonus) who would direct it and/or star in it?

Now that there will be a Sweet Valley High movie, I'm not sure what else I'd need. Wait, those are more YA, huh?

I think any of the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books/stories would be great. It should involve Emma Thompson. And Bobby #2 from Mad Men. I liked that kid.

The Berenstain Bears. I think Jack Black would make a good Papa Bear.

I'd like to see Calvin and Hobbes, but it would have to be made with someone who respects the flights of fancy. I'm almost thinking the people behind scrubs, but also maybe the Coen Brothers. That seems crazy, but Spize Jonze seemed crazy for where the Wild Things Are

none - I am a book snob. But if I had to pick one I would have to go
with "are you there God, it is me Marget".

"There is a Monster at the end of this Book"

(in this case movie)

While this is quite literally my favorite children's book, I'll name another because I don't get to pick a star (it has to be Grover)

My 2nd movie:

"Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Siverstein

This one would be a little more difficult, but I think a series of seemingly random events (poems) linked together by some common character...

It should be done like "Four Rooms" (which was definitely not a children's movie) but where there are a bunch of different directors, each doing a different "skit". The main protagonist could be...

Paul Bettany... Cuz I have a man crush on him.

Speaking of kids' books and movies, when I was a reading teacher my students read The Giver, and we watched Pleasantville to help visualize it.
