What is your favorite Patrick Swayze movie?

Dirty Dancing was my first favorite movie when I was 7 (divorced parents feel guilty and let you watch what want you want.) I always enjoyed him, but for some reason I really liked his role in Donnie Darko. It was such a departure and it made me appreciate him more.

1) Point Break. Awesomeness all around. And the scene at the end where Swayze paddles off into the surf of death? Amazing.

2) Road House. I must have seen this first when I was 13, so the mix of boobs and bar fights was very, very appealing.

And though not a movie, the bit where Swayze and Chris Farley appeared together on the SNL skit as erotic dancers. It'll be extra sad to watch it now.

No contest: Dirty Dancing...because nobody puts baby in a corner.

What Martin said...easy call to make, especially about the Chippendale's sketch. Funniest. SNL. Moment. EVER.

Oh, and his guest starring spot on MASH as a 19 year old soldier diagnosed with leukemia seems all the more poignant. Be at peace, Patrick.

This is actually pretty hard, so I'll just name my top 3:
1. Point Break
2. To Wong Foo...
3. Dirty Dancing

Roadhouse...easily. In a weird example of my mom's approach to movies when I was in grade school, I couldn't watch Dirty Dancing but had no issue with Road House.

I'll always live by Daulton's 3 rules.

North and South is pretty awesome.

"To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar."

His portrayal of Miss Vita Boleyn, a lost soul trying to make sense of this crazy world with style and grace is pure cinematic genius

Roadhouse.

I'm going to pretty much agree with what people have already said. My top three are:

1. Dirty Dancing
2. Point Break
3. Donnie Darko

I've never seen Roadhouse. I think I may have to get it this weekend.

Point Break, hands down.

I'm having a hard time deciding between Point Break & Dirty Dancing. Funny how in each chapter of my life, there is a Patrick Swayze movie that was one of my favorites. Those two are the most prominent, but I must have watched Ghost a million times & Donnie Darko is just a bad ass movie. Guess I'll have to rent Roadhouse to catch up.

i loved dirty dancing. i mean, i think i got my first boner watching it. you know, the taped from TV version i had with a ski-doo commercial with brad pitt in it.

point break is a close second.

Tough decision, but Dirty Dancing wins the #1 spot.

Ghost! Whoopi Goldberg lets him possess her so he can make sweet love to Demi Moore from beyond the grave -- the most undercommented-upon freakiness in cinema history.

Popular QOTD. Never actually seen it but I feel like its Roadhouse. Point Break is up there somewhere too.

the news of patrick's passing is really making me feel sad. i loved everything about him during his 80s heyday and couldn't get enough of him in the 90s. i would have to say dirty dancing because it is just such a fantastic movie. and then maybe ghost bc of the pottery scene. who doesn't love it?

not all of us are as old as you, beenu.

I usually hate chick flicks, but Ghost was original and a pretty damn good movie. Still don't understand why people (present company included) like Dirty Dancing. Thought it was one of biggest pieces of dog turd I've ever watched.
