Have you ever had an incidence of office refrigerator drama, frustration or annoyance?

hell yes! it's a constant point of contention around here. people leave their rotten crap in there and we have to do a periodic clean out. it's compounded by the fact my CEO can't stand it if things aren't neat so then he gets mad. it's like playing house. really.

when i worked at UNNAMED PRO-CHOICE ORGANIZATION as an intern, i ate an ice cream sandwich out of the communal fridge. the owner sent an internal all staff e-mail out (to over 500 people) demanding that whoever had "stolen it" put the exact cost ($1.33) on her desk. if the payment was made in 24 hours, there "would be no questions asked." most traumatic moment, ever.

we used to have a phantom pizza eater at my office.....but the phantom would take only one bite and then put the rest back. people stopped bring pizza to work. it's sad, really.

I used to get all of my food pre-made and I would pick it up twice a week so I would have three or four days worth of food in a big bag with my name on it. I had to put it in the big fridge at work one day because I had a HH after work and couldn't bring it home. It was tied shut and had my name on it in two places. Well someone opened the bag and ate all the food but they were nice enough to leave the tag with my name on the floor.

Oh and just recently I hired a dude to be on my team and in his first week, he put his salad (with a receipt on top) in the fridge and when he came back the next morning someone had eaten it and left the garbage on the sink next to his receipt. So weird.

Our office has a weekly fridge clean-out policy, which is great...but, there is no need to throw out things like cans of soda and mustard that don't go bad. Annoying. My half-and-half gets thrown out all the time (when it's still got a month before the expiration!) but I try not to get too pissed because I understand it's a dairy product.

Oh--and I think EVERY office has a pig. You know, the one who helps him/herself to your department's chocolates and gift basket food.

When I last had a real job, and didn't work from home, my employer actually fully stocked a fridge and freezer with foods for lunch. It was an amazing perk, but it really sucked when Friday came.

Some people would make three or four sandwiches, so by the end of the week there was only frozen cream chipped beef to eat.

YES! Batsh*t crazy receptionist sends out mass passive/aggressive emails about people's use of the refrigerator, the toaster and the microwave oven.

When we get food brought in (every so often), she'll leave the leftovers in the fridge for weeks without throwing it away. But, then sends scathing emails about people leaving food in the fridge more than two days.

we also have food thieves and rotten food problems.

my favorite bit of refrigerator drama: i was hosting an event after work at my office and i brought some cookies in the day before. i sent an email to our dc staff to let them know that the cookies were not for them but they could have leftovers. several people commented about the cookies - one person told me i was being "mean" for not letting people eat them. seriously, grown ups should be able to buy cookies if they want them so much. no one said thank you for sharing the leftovers.

hahaha, good question! my current office is tiny (party of 5) and no one seems to know that leftovers go rotten and stink. i mean, who wants leftover buffalo wings after 4 weeks? birthday cake a month later? kinda gross.

my old job had tons of people per floor using the fridge and there was always people hanging signs about stolen water bottles, food etc. they always made me laugh bec like another poster said, they were so passive aggressive.

not the fridge so much...but right now there is the following sign on the microwave,

"attention! this oven caught fire and is dangerous! do not use! GE has been called. Please do not throw away in case there is an investigation"

i'm really sorry i missed seeing it catch fire, and the reaction on whoever's face freaking out
