When, if ever, is it acceptable to notify people of a hookup via status updates on AIM, gchat, facebook, twitter, etc?

Do people regularly notify people of "hookups"?

NEVER

Wait, is this is a real question? Unless it's you that hooked up and the person you hooked up with is cool with letting the world know in the most impersonal way ever, I would side with Rob and say "never."

When you're striving to be trashy.

Is this as in "I got laid last night" or "next person to IM me gets 15 minutes, anything goes!"

my response to cate's chattus yesterday:

me: i would totes broadcast an epic makeout, like w/ chris cornell perhaps

of course, i'm totes kidding. i would never make out w/ chris cornell after hearing his last album. however, martin probably would.

I love that yesterday people kept asking Leslie if her gmail status meant that she had hooked up over the weekend. Have these people not met Leslie?

i'd have to go with never...unless maybe you don't use names and no one on your list knows who you are talking about...in which case what's the point?

Never. Ever. Ever. Unless you're married (particularly gay and married) in order to make us jealous.)

I def used my chattus yesterday as an outlet for my excitement related to the nook-hook but that is because:
a) it was highly anticipated and very exciting.
b) it involved friends from undergrad and I lose all ability to be mature when it come to those goofballs.
c) only two people on my chattus list knew what it was about.

This is definitely a rare occurrence. However, I was intrigued by how many people asked me if I was broadcasting that I did "it" in a nook this past weekend. To those who are curious, I did not.

Also, I love that when Beenu thinks of an epic hookup the first person who comes to her mind is Chris Cornell.

Umm. I'd go the opposite and say it is definitely acceptable.

If you are talking to someone else about your night over IM you can totes mention the hookup.

Facebook and Twitter are fine, maybe you should use a little discretion and not use real/full names.

... was a Limo Wreck last night and sucked face w/ CC.
