I've purchased or d/l'd The Meters' untouchable first three albums too many times to count - completely original funk. Same goes for Link Wray compilations - that guy deserves free sandwiches for life just for "Rumble". After that it's a four-way tie (2 albums each) between Peter Gabriel, The Zombies, Deep Purple (MY FIRST TAPE EVER!!!), and Nirvana. I borrowed NWA, LL Cool J, and KISS (ALIVE!) tapes, but never owned. For a Yes sample, do try "Roundabout".
If I were to answer your question literally, I'd have to say I've purchased the E Street Band the most because Nirvana had a, you know, sudden unexpected halt to their record making back in the mid-90s.
That said, I just want to take this opportunity to say it's utter bullshit The Replacements didn't make it into the HOF. And I plan on holding a jukebox over my head playing their seminal album "Pleased To Meet Me" outside the induction ceremony in protest.

I think mine is a tie between Nirvana and Hall and Oates.
