I'm thinking it was New Kids on the Block. However, my first memory of listening to a tape was Bon Jovi -Slippery When Wet. I listened to that a lot! it must have been my brothers...
You people make me feel old. I'm sure it was a K-Tel record (33) with the likes of KC and the Sunshine Band and Rose Royce. Possibly The Knack on LP or Bat Out of Hell on 8-track.
closely followed by joining BMG and getting the following CDs: Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, STP Purple, and Counting Crows August and Everything After

Cassette Tape - Barbie Girl by Aqua...... yeah my flame burns bright.
I am pretty sure it was Tom Cochrane's Mad Mad World cassette tape (with the single, "Life is a Highway").
Digital Underground - Sex Packets
I was all about the Humpty Dance
Scratch that, it was actually the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie soundtrack on cassette tape. That came out earlier than Tom Conchrane.
Edit #3 ... Bon Jovi's New Jersey on cassette.
Casette -- The Joshua Tree by U2
