I'm coming to terms with the very real possibility that I'll be lucky to retire at 67, and then my retirement will be about dicking around with insurance companies to see who will accept all my life savings, plus a government coupon for 50% off premiums (or I'm sorry, "premium support').
God damn I miss the days we had guys like Dole and Bush, even a Reagan.
I think it shows that Romney really has no plan. He chooses someone known as a fiscal hawk, despite Ryan's penchant for advocating for two unfunded wars and trickle down economics, and then says he will not put forward Ryan's budget plan ... the only real substantive thing he's known for in the public mind. Why?
Ryan isn't someone willing to work across both parties, he has no experience outside of representing Wisconsin.
I think i twas a great choice for him. Strong on the issues his base needs to get motivated, and a good track record in Congress. I think he would dominate Biden in a VP debate too.
All that said, still not voting for that ticket...
My first instinct was it was a dumb move. Seniors are going to freak out about the Ryan plan. Romney needs Independents and women and Ryan isn't going to convince them. Anyone who is stoked about Ryan on the ticket was going to vote for Romney already.

It's a sign of weakness and desperation. You don't make a pick with this many obvious risks unless your back is against the wall.
Best response to Romney picking Ryan: "This is awful. I was hoping it would be Jindal so I could play him in a HBO movie" - Kal Penn
