Red light cameras: efficient way to keep people safe or gratuitous way to extract funds from citizens?

Gratuitous fundular extraction. Speeding cameras are more justifiable and also a far-better band name than either 'red light cameras' or 'gratuitous fundular extraction'.
QOTD suggestion: Would the political criterion "is it a good band name?" identify better social outcomes than whatever criterion is used by Kansas' voters?
gratuitious fund extraction with the added benefit of big brother in action! not only do they send you a bill for doing something everyone does - but they're also able to locate our vehicles at any time!

Haven't seen any data yet about whether they reduce light-running. But in the mean time I hate them.

As a current non driver, I would rather not get run over by someone running a red light. So yay Red Light Cameras!
