A Senate subcommittee hearing yesterday heard proposals on mandated reporting of child sexual abuse. Should all adults should be mandated to report?

Former NHL hockey player Sheldon Kennedy testified before the Senate subcommittee on children and families during a hearing on child abuse. As a young teen, he said, he was sexually abused for years by a respected hockey coach, but the adults around him who suspected never said a thing.

IDK. Apparently its really hard to report when you are in this situation. I've been told even though you know you have to and you know its what you should do, its still difficult to actually report. So maybe if all adults were mandatory reporters, it would make it easier?

I'd want to hear more about the behaviors that would be mandatory to report, and would like to watch the hearings and see if any experts bring up unintended consequences. But for now I'll say yes.
