Which do you prefer: A direct cross-country flight to an airport an hour from your home or a flight with a layover to an airport 15 minutes from home?

the former, mostly. depending on how easy it is to get to the airport and how long i will be gone from home.

I never mind layovers. I have ridiculously long legs and they need a walking break during cross country flights.

It depends on the layover. Are we talking an hour? Or are we talking 3 hours? If it is an hour layover, I don't mind the layover option because really, you spend 1/2 the time boarding.

totally depends on the total price. I love flying and airports, so layovers can be a good thing.

I go through periods where I travel a lot for work. And I have learned that you never ever want a layover. With the way airlines operate, an extra stop introduces an opportunity for a delay and a delay can mean missed connections or spending the night in the airport. I fly direct unless I absolutely can't get a direct flight.

all other things equal, the direct flight. layover add more time than just the time in the airport: you go out of your way, have to slow down and speed up again, more risk for delay, missed flight, lost luggage.

direct. Layover gives the airline two opportunities to screw you over.
