The Express - they are both terrible coverage of the news, but at least the Express excepts that it is a morning tabloid and prints big pictures and jokes to entertain in the AM.
Oh my gosh- i could rant for pages on this subject. Both are basically Fox News in print and slaps int he face to journalism. The Examiner is 14 million time worse (yes, that is an exact number) than the Express, but both make me want to vom in my liberal mouth. In the summer months i do take an Express from Mr Wingo at the Columbia Heights metro station to fan myself during my commute. Then i cover it with lighter fluid and burn it. Because it's trash.
express b/c i can finish that crossword puzzle AND they keep me abrest of food trends from 2 years ago. whoopie pies are trendy? who knew!?!?
also, my examiner guy is kinda nice and says hello to me every morning even though i've never taken one of his papers. i guess it's another reason why my neighborhood is so awesome.
I know they both seem to have their slants but I personally like examiner because it appears to have more DC news. there is a lot going on in our capital at the local level that the express doesent cover.

The Express also has BYOB, it's section where newly engaged couples tell their stories.
The Examiner does make me LOL with how crazy their headlines get.
The Examiner sucks and the Examiner guy is not friendly at the Metro. Express all the way.
Andrew - agreed! Our Examiner guy is aggressive. I have never ever taken an Examiner, but he will stand in my path and try to make me take one.

Only page I read in the Express is last one: celeb gossip.
