Since i also have an iphone with a battery life shorter than a goldfish's memory, i too keep mine plugged in at night. And i also use mine as an alarm- but that means it has to be plugged in across the room so that i have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Unfortunately, I keep them both on the nightstand beside my head for my 24x7 support duties.
Nightstand. What if there is an intruder or I need to call 911 in my sleep? Or, more realistically, the Daily Kitten comes in at 1:08 am.
Since the iPhone's battery life is pretty pathetic, I keep it plugged in on my nightstand...makes it convenient that I also use it as my alarm clock.
