OOH! 1. Night of the Living Dead. 2. Dead Alive. 3. Shaun of the Dead. 4. Return of the Living Dead. 5. Reanimator. Honorable mentions: -Zombi (best soundtrack) -28 Days Later (revival - no pun intended) -Plan 9 from Outer Space (sheer brilliance)
(If anyone EVER wants to watch Zombie movies, call me: 774-437-1698) - Sean
This is actually a question I should bump to a non QOTD coworker who loves these movies.
Not really a zombie movie fan, so if I ranked 5 it would just really be the ones I remember watching.
I will say, if the point of a zombie movie is to be 50% laughs and 50% WTF...it doesn't get any better than Dead Alive (or Braindead). I'll say it, easily Peter Jackson's most enjoyable film. Fuck Frodo.
Tim Morris is going to spend all day composing and recomposing his answer. Leslie, you realize asking Tim this question is like asking Brodie from Mallrats which comic book character he would be.
Holy Crap, Leslie! If you give me the go-ahead. I'll lock-and-load my Netflix with decapitation and cannibal scenes, burn Zombie-Party mix CDs, make finger-food (heh), and dress for the occassion.
Zombieland is my favorite of the very recent ones. Love 28 days and 28 weeks (months?) later. Shaun of the Dead is fantastic as well. I rather enjoyed Dawn of the Dead too. I consider Night of the Living Dead a given.
I have this movie in my queue right now "Dead Snow" or something. It is about Nazi zombies.
Dan, Army of Darkness was a great action/horror movie, but I don't think it counts as a "zombie movie". The army of mobilized corpses were POSESSED, which is different from being REANIMATED in the strictest sense. You might be able to argue that it's a "hell-spawn movie", or even a "mummy movie", but them ain't zombies. Zombie only work fo' they stomach, kna' mean? (With all due respect to Sam Raimi and the greatest chin in Hollywood.)

But I'd like to see:
28 Days later and Fido
Sean, let's have a zombie watching party. I nominate Rob's place as the location. It's awesome.

Shaun of the Dead was awesome. Can't imagine any zombie movie being better. 28 days later was good also. Haven't seen too many zombie movies.
i don't like scary/zombie movies, so i'm gonna have to go with the music video for Thriller.
1) 28 Days Later
2) Shaun of the Dead
3) Zombieland
4) Army of Darkness
5) Dead Alive
"What no pudding?!"
I cannot believe no one has mentioned Leprechaun 5 "In Da Hood." One of the best, nay, THE BEST movie to feature zombie fly girls.
John, you are correct! (also, nice Mallrats reference)
but, I have settled on ...
Planet Terror
Shaun of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead (both versions)
Return of the Living Dead
Reanimator
