I def used my chattus yesterday as an outlet for my excitement related to the nook-hook but that is because: a) it was highly anticipated and very exciting. b) it involved friends from undergrad and I lose all ability to be mature when it come to those goofballs. c) only two people on my chattus list knew what it was about.
This is definitely a rare occurrence. However, I was intrigued by how many people asked me if I was broadcasting that I did "it" in a nook this past weekend. To those who are curious, I did not.

Umm. I'd go the opposite and say it is definitely acceptable.
If you are talking to someone else about your night over IM you can totes mention the hookup.
Facebook and Twitter are fine, maybe you should use a little discretion and not use real/full names.
