A reading from the lost gospel according to Jeff:

Jeff 5:18-28-
And the followers of Jesus gathered for a meal outside Jerusalem and began to engage in small talk. Not fifteen minutes had passed before Jesus called his disciples attention to him by saying, "Before this night is passed, one of you shall betray me three times." The disciples appeared shocked and dismayed before bursting into laughter and saying, "That was a good one, Lord." Jesus joined them in jocularity and chuckled mildly. Yea, verily, it came to pass that the waiter began to fill water glasses for the table. Thomas, the disciple whom Jesus loved, looked incredulous at his glass filled with water, and begged of the Messiah, "Hey, JC, a little help here?" The remainder of the disciples agreed, and Jesus--never one to be a party pooper--turned them all to wine (except that of Peter...he was more of a Scotch man). The conversation continued for a few more minutes before the servants began to bring the soup course (after a lovely amuse-bouche of pan-seared scallop drizzled with rosemary-lemon olive oil). The servant placed a bowl of red soup in front of the Lord, who inquired, "Excuse me, what is this soup?", to which the server replied, "It's a lovely Manhattan Clam Chowder, very tasty." The Lord became upset with the servant and said, "We ordered New England Clam Chowder...what the hell is this red crap?" The servant replied, "Yes, Mr. Judas called ahead and changed it, due to his lactose intolerance." The disciples trembled, because they knew that the Lord spoke true of betrayal. The Lord said unto Judas, "You pansy...now we all have to eat this barf because you have a widdle tummy pwoblem??? This soup is an abomination before my Father, and he will surely know what you have done."

The Word of the Lord.

Like a good Rhode Island boy, I much prefer quahog chowder. But, if I had to choose between New England and Manhattan, the answer is naturally New England.

I just wiki'd Manhattan clam chowder. That actually looks pretty good.

No knock on Manhattan clam chowder b/c that's pretty good, but I'd have to go w/ New England. Only thing is that it has to be the clam chowder my grandma makes (she's a native New Englander if you question the authenticity). It has a thinner consistency than most new england chowdas.

However, with most standard clam chowders you get at restaurants, I think Manhattan usually tastes better.

i've never had manhattan. it scares me.

re: jeff - an amuse-bouche is something to be eaten in one bite. therefore, a bowl of soup is not an amuse-bouche.

yes, i'm a top chef junkie.

Beenu, I'll just suggest that you read the gospel of Jeff again...more carefully this time.

And don't ever question the Word of the Lord again :)
