What is the grossest or most unusual thing you've ever found in your food?

I was eating broccoli cheese soup at my college dining hall and found a large piece of wood in it. I got a free cookie for my troubles.

I found a giant, yellow and black spider walking in my grapes in elementary school and stupid Mr. Hartshon wouldn't let me throw it away. That dude called me Elizabeth for six years, even after I beat Ryan Day in a push-up contest in third grade. (I wish I could do push-ups now.)

Also...

When I was a kid I found a cockroach and a tooth in my frozen spinach. (Different times, but both occurred at my grandmother's house.) If I were an adult I would have suggested she switch brands, but since I was a kid I just made a big deal about how grossed out I was.

Found a toothpick (the hard way) in a club sandwich a few years ago...

Also found a nail, or a tack, or a brad, or whatever you wanna call it...one of those things you hammer into a wall to hang a picture...found one of those in a Twix bar. Got a year's worth of coupons for Mars products for that one ;)

When I came to look at AU as a high school junior, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Georgetown. We went to dinner after the long drive from New England and all ordered cheeseburgers. All of them came out with the top bun facing up. I put ketchup on my burger, flipped over the top bun and square in the center of the bun was a HUGE green mold circle.

I told the waitress and asked for a new one. She came back and asked me if I wanted a new bun or a new burger. That was my first taste of DC's restaurant service, and yet I still came to this city.

WAIT! Better story. My old work ordered pizza from Armands, and thankfully I am lame and use a knife and fork to eat pizza. Otherwise, I'd not have noticed the GIANT BAKED-IN, DIRT COVERED HAIRBALL stuck on the bottom of my slice.

Then there was the box of Suddenly Salad we got when I was a kid and we opened it and tons of bugs and spiders came out.

Last time I ordered pizza from Angelico they put anchovies on it instead of artichokes. They stunk up the whole house. Luckily it was not my house.

A staple in a frozen Mrs. Smith's apple pie.

I had one of those fancy, gourmet, organic, real fruit inside chocolate bars from Bloomingfoods (Bloomington's version of Wholefoods), and I broke off one of the squares to discover that inside one of the rasberries was a little green completely ALIVE & wiggling worm. It would have been adorable except that it ruined by dark chocolate rasberry experience.

I still ate the chocolate, just not that particular square.

A bloody band aid in my Maryland crab soup. I threw up on the floor of the restaurant. It was awesome!
