What food and/or beverage would you consider to be "hipster"?

PABST BLUE RIBBON, hands down. Who drinks that on purpose?

I do, and I don't like that it's now a hipster beer. Wait, I do because I know they hate someone like me likes it.

If those fuckers try to take over my old style I'll kill them.

whatever the most popular drink at Black Cat is and maybe Bubble Tea? I heard about it from my hipster friend, but I'm not sure if that was just a coincidence.

hipsters don't need food or drink. they can sustain themselves on originality alone.

PLEASE do not say PBR. Where I come from that is straight up redneck beer and people are proud of it. Those damn hipsters moved to the city and thought they could charge $3 for a can. You can't. In Portland ME it's .75 in the bars. That is indeed it's true value and people love it.

tofurkey or vegan pizza.

whatever is featured on the tshirts at urban outfitters. also, schlitz and sparks (sorry beth).

bubble tea is not hipster. it's sold at kiosks in malls, so that automatically makes it not hipster.

btw, i didn't come up with this question, but i'll take the shout out...

I have to agree with Nerdette and Beenu. PBR and Sparks. And anything that looks good with checkered scarfs and skinny jeans.

It's hard to keep up with the hipsters b/c they are always flipping their preferences. So, I was going to say organic tofu anything, but now I am changing my answer to bacon (but only ironic bacon).

PBR really? That's the working man's beer? Hipsters drink lattes.

As for food, they eat whatever is "undiscovered" and cool. As soon as that food starts to become mainstream, they want nothing to do with it. At least that's what they do if their approach to cuisine is similar to their attitudes towards music.

I am totally guilty of lots of PBR and Sparks-drinking. But I like PBR because it's cheap and Sparks because it tastes like sweet tarts. I used to have some hipster vegan friends and they always had hipster vegan potlucks--it was such a pain in the ass coming up with dishes they could eat. And--chicken salad with fake chicken? Pretty gross. These were also same vegans that would eat the dumpster-dived donuts.

PBR -- hands down

wait I forgot one -- you are a complete hipster if you are drinking the PBR while eating tater tots.

PBR.

"Look, I'm drinking beer and making fun of rednecks at the same time. Aren't I just the picture of condescending sophistication? Don't answer - I already know, and I don't value your opinion."

Hipsters don't eat - they sustain themselves on "the" bands and social awkwardness alone. Read the following article for proof.

PS The hipsters have no claim on PBR. Sounds like all of us were drinking it long before they had graduated from 8th grade...

Red Bull. Sparks. Maybe even some random soda like Moxie. (Which, by the way was originally produced in Beford, NH!) Anything that will keep them up all night so they can go to some random show of a band that no one's ever heard of.

whoa, leave the tots out of this.

Unknown said...

i agree with beenu. the tots comment was uncalled for. if hipsters eat tater tots it is only because even their disdain for the popular cannot overcome the tasty deliciousness that is a tater tot. tater tots are stronger than hipster tendencies.

I love tater tots. And I drink PBR when it's the cheapest beer in the bar. Same with Natty Boh. I don't think these things make me a hispter but Beenu does.

Is Natty Boh a hipster beverage?
